I think you should use jquery for it. Please find the key code of "^". and then make call using Jquery-Ajax for database operation ...for example :-

$(window).keydown(function(e) {

   if(e.keyCode==keycode value of "^")
{
 e.preventDefault() 

///then Make here jqury Ajax request and note that  your CS method Should be WEBMETHOD.

 $.ajax({url:"your app url with method name ",success:function(result){

  

  }});

}

});
