[Interview Question] : Find 5th Highest Salary

Find 5th Highest salary in LinQ, Sql server, write code in C# 2.0 for that.

Is there any inbuild function in C# which will give us direct answer as 5th Highest salary ?

Hi ,

in sql server you can find fifth highest salary

Select TOP 1 Salary as '5th Highest Salary'
from (SELECT DISTINCT TOP 5 Salary from Employee ORDER BY Salary DESC)
a ORDER BY Salary ASC

in Linq
try this

var employees = Employees
.GroupBy(q => q.Salary)
.OrderByDescending(m => m.Key)
.Skip(4)
.First();
