Is sql server 2008 database compatible to run on sql 2016

Good morning,

I hope you can help me. I have been searching on the internet but I couldn't find the exact answer. I am tasked to investigate the compatibility of current DB running in MSSQL server 2008 with MSSQL2016 and also applications(Classic ASP, .Net Framework 2.0, 3.0, and DotNetNuke), will they run in OS 2016 server.

I would recommend to first download “Microsoft Data Migration Assistant” tool. This tool will identities all the compatibility of current DB issues before the upgrade from SQL 2008 to SQL 2016.
