there are several events that you could monitor for the keypress action The Keypress and Keydown event are the most commonly used. A keypress event has an e parameter. you can use. IF ASC(e.keychar) = 13 then do something here end if to monitor enter keys, use this method if you are familliar with key codes. e.keychar return a character but you often need keycodes so convert them with the ASC fucntion. The keydown has can return more values than the Keypress Event e.keycode e.keydata e.keyvalue using keycode if e.keycode = 13 then do something here end if but be careful because the keydown is triggered continuously while the key is down. The keypress on the other hand is triggered only once per press.

Use e.KeyChar to equal the ASCII value of the key to press when you want something to happen. For example, Chr(13) is the Enter key. When you press Enter in the textbox KeyPress event, you can set the focus on another control. If e.KeyChar = Chr(13) Then Button2.Focus()
