Metro Sytle Apps or WPF

Question

In todays world when we have both platforms: WPF and Metro Style apps. which one would be better in future and what will be the scope of both platforms?

It's anybody's guess just now as we don't even know whether the Metro interface will prove popular with users or not. It also appears that certain business applications - notably those which need a lot of open windows - are not going to be suitable for the Metro UI. What is clear is that Microsoft is 'betting the farm' on Metro and making it available on all Windows 8 devices. It's therefore going to be a massive climb-down for them if Metro is a failure and they have to go back to 'traditional' desktop software even though it's still going to be there in the background on PCs and Microsoft Surface Pro tablets. One good thing is that both Metro (for .NET developers) and WPF are XAML-based so it's not going to be too difficult to switch between them. If you're thinking of working for others, I'd say WPF is your best bet at present. I doubt whether most programmming shops will be too interested in Metro just now as many of their clients will be unlikely to upgrade to Windows 8 any time soon. However, if you're thinking of working on your own, then I'd take a chance with Metro where you have a ready-made avenue for selling your stuff through the Microsoft app store and you'll be getting in on the ground floor should Metro prove popular.
