i have a local copy of a project and for some reason its differant from the server copy, how can that be?

well, the only reason i can think of that will make this happen is that you are not working online but offline, if you work online than you are constantly working with the MSProj Server... talk to your sysadmins to reconnect you and sync all the data to the server :-)
