MVC - Where data is retained if Model is invalid?

When we are sending the data from view to controller and in controller if the model is invalid, then where do the data will be persisting?

The M in MVC represents the domain model. This can includes persistence, whether done directly or using an ORM. But in a layered architecture, the application layer should handle the persistence. The domain layer (containing the domain model) should not know of persistence for the casual business program. The controller is an orchestrator. It can orchestrate (data-)services, UI and the domain model.
