1- First and formost, while preparing for the exam objectives you are preparing against Microsoft's benchmark for the technology. So are learning what is needed most in that technology.
2- Once you have cleared the exam you have earned the credibility in market as you have demonstrated the knowledge by qualifying the exam (some companies prefer certified people, but that doesn't assure a job).
3- Most important, what I found exciting is that; it is most thrilled way to learn new things, otherwise people take learning technology easy and they never get to learn it.
I wish you good luck for your certification(s).

Also Microsoft certification is a industry standard and a great way for the employer/recruiter to know your competency. There are few companies who demand Microsoft certification during job posting, overall it will add to your profile and knowledge.
