run .NET apps on a restricted server

There are products that are supposed to allow .NET applications to be deployed without the framework (e.g., http://www.thinstall.com/solutions/net_virtual.php) but unlike the framework, they have a cost associated with their use.  I have not personally used them but they have trial versions so you could give it a shot; I would certainly try it before I bought it and use the opportunity to validate that the performance of the application was not degraded.  Still and all, at about $5000 per license and $39 a seat, it seems like the alternative of allowing the use of the framework might deserve further consideration.
