Saving document files to database

Storing the files such as .doc .pdf to database.

Before i used standard method. As field type i put "binary" and store everything to it. But nowadays people are telling something about blob blog storage as the most efficient.

Does anyone know something about it or maybe some example of it .

Yes. In SQL Server 2008 onwards, they have called as "FileStream", which internally uses VarBinary.

Large objects can be stored in SQL Server by using "Binary" datatype. But when you using
"binary" datatype you should specify the "length". The max length is 8000. If you want to store, larger objects you should go with "varbinary", which offers size of 2^31 bytes.
