Serial Communications

Someone wrote in a post some time ago that Microsoft was going to include an assembly for serial RS232 communications. Does anyone know if that has, or ever will, happen? -James Divine

Yeah, I know you can use P/Invoke to directly access the kernal, and you can also do it through COM controls, but I was hoping for something a little bit less taxing. I guess this is just one area that our friends at Microsoft didn't see a great need to functionality in .Net. I am definitely going to take a look at that link though, I may get to do my first bit of cross-language .Netting. -James

Hi James, I seem to remember way back that you could do it by using existing windows api calls you just need to use the importdll attribute and declare the external functions.
