SharePoint list item is opening in display mode

Question

Sir I m using SharePoint 2013 when I am trying to edit a list item it is opening in display mode by default then it requires me to click on edit item button located in ribbon Is there any way to open list item in edit mode I am new to SharePoint kindly answer with more elaborated Thanks and regards
