SharePoint migration via ShareGate

Question

Hi All, 1. Can we migrate content database and site collections separately using sharegate? 2. Do we need to migrate only site collections in ShareGate without migrating a databases? -Thanks

1. Sharegate does not support migration from Content Database. You can migrate Site Collections. Also, you should be site collection administrator. 2. Yes, we do not need to migrate any database.

Hi, You can do i both way. If you want to go for content db then no need to do migrate through site collection beucase all site collection are there under content db. Once you migrate content db then site collection will autometically come. If you want to go for site collection level then no need to migrate content db becasue when you start migrationg through site level then it will store in content db.

You have to decide between the content database and site collection Migration. Lets say if you have CDB-A in SharePoint 2010 with 4 site collections in it.....If you perform the content database migration then all 4 sites will be migrate. But if you migrate site collections by site collection then it will one at time. With Sharegate i highly recomend you that peform the Site Collection migrations.
