Should i switch to php and android?

Why not? I believe you are introduced with a great opportunity and I personally wouldn't miss it.

You know I started my career with ASP.NET , later on moved to ASP.NET MVC and have been working with it to this day. Little over 6 years now and in that time I was once in charge of enhancing some CRM and some Wiki like knowledge-base applications which were implemented in PHP with Twig. Also on few occasions I had to solve some specific requirements with Python.

In short the point I'm trying to make is that "switching" is a common thing in development process. You should not thing of yourself as a specific programming language or a platform developer, instead think of yourself as a software developer, maybe even more specific as a web or a mobile developer.

I think of it like this, a language is just a tool, a framework is just an environment, yes they all have something specific that relates only to themselves, but they also share a lot of things with others. Getting yourself familiar with other languages and frameworks really improves your way of thinking because you have few viewpoints of developing the same thing. It also increases your creativity and in general you just get a lot better at solving problems (which essentially is what programming is all about).

Now I'm not sure if you are experiencing the same feelings that I had. You see when I had to make my first "switch" I was just getting comfortable with ASP.NET and was not eager to "switch" to something entirely new to me. Nevertheless I did it anyway and to be honest at first I was struggling with working on both ASP.NET and PHP projects. But after a while (I cannot say for sure, but I believe it took me around 2 - 4 months) I got a good grasp of thinks and was feeling very comfortable in both environments.

So my advice is, if you are questioning this because you are scared, then don't be!!!
Believe me I'm really not being modest here, the truth is I was never a great developer, just a normal everyday programmer that was working on improving himself in a steady pace and I think that those various "switches" that I had to make really speeded up this process.

Also in case you are interested here are few advices that could speed up this transition.

The first think that I did is surfed around for some basic, syntax related, tutorials. After that I made few small POCs (proof of concepts) which were actually not directly related to the task that I had but rather some general tasks like make some custom structure (collection of collections) and work with it.

After that I tried to solve some challenges on this programming testing software, for example here are some PHP coding tests and for the Android you would probably want to try out these coding tests for Java language. Also as an FYI you could start with these HTML, CSS and JavaScript coding tests in order to get a feeling how this software works.

In my opinion, if you are passionate about ASP.Net but by force you are going to switch to ther technologies then, first you should take more experience in ASP.Net then only after you may or may not switch to other technologies, because as per I know that company always needs to complete its work by anyway without bothering about your experience is growing or not. If you switch to other technologies then you can never have good experience in any of the technologies and that will be of no use..
