State Service issue in sharepoint

Dear Team,

I have a SharePoint 2010 site where i am creating approval workflows. I can not able to open the task from the task list, it is giving error like " The Form can not be rendered, this may be due to the mis configuration of microsoft sharepoint server state service, please contact your server admin". I am the server admin, i have verified in the central administration site for state service, it is started and running. I have searched many blogs and each and every blog says about start the state service, but it is already started and running.

You can stop the state service then start. Make sure it is associated with the web application. It will not affect rather it will fix the unseen issues.

You will see the issues without it as you cant publish the forms etc. It is manadotry things and should be associated with all web apps in the farm.

Thank you Waqas, i have verified in the central admin site and the state service is configured and started. When i check in the "application management-->configure service applications associations" for perticular web application the state service is not selected. could you please let me know the pros cons for selecting the state service for the web app, i mean if i select the state service, will that affect other site collections in the web app, if yes what kind of issues we will get.
