Stored procedure, and how is it different from a function

There are many differences between them, and I can list out below,

Store Procedure	Function
Can return zero, one, or multiple values via OUTPUT parameters. Not required to return a value.	Must return a value (scalar or table).
Can perform INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, and DDL operations.	Cannot perform DML or DDL operations that modify database state.
Cannot be used directly inside a `SELECT` statement.	Can be used inside `SELECT`, `WHERE`, `JOIN`, and other SQL clauses.
Can start, commit, and roll back transactions.	Cannot start or manage transactions.
Supports TRY...CATCH for error handling.	Limited error handling capabilities.
Precompiled and cached for better performance in complex operations.	Compiled at runtime (less caching than procedures).
Can call functions inside them.	Cannot call a stored procedure inside a function.
