Since you have good experience in desktop applications, WPF can be choose with WCF. Now a days WPF applications are taking WCF benefits and making good impact on performance and security.

As you're posting this under the Silverlight 5 category, then it appears that you may have chosen something new already ;)

Seriously though the next logical step from Windows Forms is the more powerful but complex WPF for desktop development.
