Switch to other technologies or not

I have two year experience in WPF and Windows Store Apps. But these days my company have little projects in these and have provided me options to move to other technologies like Android, AngularJS and MVC. I want to go to server side technologies. Due to familiarity I wanted to go with MVC but as we have only one project with 5 developers on it so my learning would be less. So now I'm in little confusion whether switching to MVC would be benefecial in longer run or not? Can anybody help?

Hi,
Firstly, MVC and AngularJS is the future because both are relying on Software design patterns (MVC and MVVM respectively) and based upon most widely and acceptable technologies (C# and JavaScript). Hence, whoever learns these will set a milestone in their technology career. Mark my words for that.
Now, see the bright side, you said you win't be able to learn, but were you targeting to learn MVC and AngularJS own your own, be honest here. May be planning for long but didn't have time etc.So, I guess you got lucky and opportunity presented it self. So begin with it the best you can get involved in various stages and development tasks and whatever you feel if left behind; you can catch up on those by yourself (self study).

I would agree with everything Mahesh has to say, and expand on one point. To further your career and learning, you cannot, and should not rely on the employer to have good juicy projects that will fit the learning you need to do. You need to take responsibility for that yourself, if necessary, outside the work environment, on your own time. There are many free learning resources in the web (look no further than this site!), and if you need example projects to learn with, why not offer to build something in that technology for a charity for free, or buddy up with a friend (local or over the net!) who has the same learning/progression goals as yourself, and learn together. Make your own path, and then teach others what you know, your career and skills will be the better for it :) Beat of luck.

Learning depends on you.Just because there is less work does not mean you cannot learn more.
I am assuming you're fairly young and energetic. If you have time, you should learn Android, Angular, and MVC all. If you can't do all, at least start with Angular and MVC. They both go together kinda. If you're getting a chance to learn one of those, learn one. These days, companies are looking for full-stack developers and learning new technology will broaden your range in future. WPF does have limited scope (Windows client apps only) but Windows Store Apps (Universal Windows Platform) has good future but commercially, there is less demand in market (hence no projects).
Keep learning new things and you will be in more and more demand.

Hi Rohit,
I would suggest you to go with MVC, learning is the individual process once you come home or in office you can learn new concepts and implement in your project so don't hesitate to go for 5 member project, where if you do something different which will have great impact and you can easily show case yourself in smaller crowd.
MVC is the base and can be used in multiple technologies or framework, so you can just go for it and its a cutting edge technology in trend.
