textbox watermark

how do i can write a text box watermark with javascript.
infact i have a text box and dont want use ajax watermark extender, want write it with javascript.

its simple, refer sample:

Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
  TextBox1.Attributes.Add("onfocus", "watermark();")
  TextBox1.Attributes.Add("onfocusout", "watermark1();")
End Sub
