Time out expired in widows Application?How?

Hi to all ,

I am working on windows applications

when i am running the application ,getting following error when loading the dataset

"Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the

server is not responding."

Help me urgent,what is the problem

Hi, If you talk about retrieving the data from database to bind to dataset, in this case if you get connection timeout error, then set the commandtimeout to zero(0) to the command object.

You said you are getting " error when loading the dataset ". What dataset? What do you mean by that? We assume that you mean database, but if not then we need to know what you mean. If you mean database and it is a SQL Server database then please confirm that that is what it is and then someone can help you further.

Actually i am new to windows applications,i thought in windows there is no server. incase if we have server how to start the server in windows.

Hi, Please check this, the Error occurs when the execution time beyond Timeout Property. When you are trying to connect or access to a Database table which is having large volume of data, query execution time will be more. There are two main Timeout property in ADO.NET. 1. Connection Timeout for Connection. It could be solved by setting ConnectionTimeout property of Connection object in Connection String. 2. Timeout for Data access ( Command Object ).
