Using a stored procedure to get data& display in girdview

I have a stored procedure in which i want to use in order to get the data. When the data is retrieved i want it to be displayed in datagridview.

Please help

Hello Abhay,

Your code may work but you also consider the following:
- Always use the "using" block when dealing with objects that eats resouces, for example in this case the SqlConnection, SqlCommand and SqlDataAdapter. This will ensure that objects within the "using" block will be closed and properly disposed. This help avoid unexpected errors at run time.
- Use DataTable when you are dealing with a single result set only. A DataSet is quite overkill when dealing with single result set.

SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand();
SqlDataAdapter adapter = new SqlDataAdapter();
DataSet ds = new DataSet();
int i = 0;
string sql = null;
string connetionString = "Data Source=.;Initial Catalog=pubs;User ID=sa;Password=*****";
SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection(connetionString);
connection.Open();
command.Connection = connection;
command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
command.CommandText = "SPPUBLISHER";
adapter = new SqlDataAdapter(command);
adapter.Fill(ds);
connection.Close();
GridView1.DataSource = ds.Tables[0];
GridView1.DataBind();

Here's a quick example using the ADO.NET way:

using (SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection("Your ConnectionString")) {
connection.Open();
string spName = "YOURStoredProcudureName";
using (SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(spName, connection)) {
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
using(SqlDataAdapter sqlDa = new SqlDataAdapter(cmd)){

sqlDa.Fill(dt);
if (dt.Rows.Count > 0) {
GridView1.DataSource = dt;
GridView1.DataBind();
}
}
