Thanks for the feedback guys! I always thought Oracle is not a database for developers. You need a dedicated DBA for Oracle. Too much complexity.

80% of my projects are in Oracle 10g..

But i feel easy and simple to code in SQL Server..

We started migrating all projects from Oracle to SQL Server, its a good experience..

My opinion is that Oracle is (much) better in high end applications.

However, in small projects I always recommend SQL Server Express Edition and that is my first choice always. It is free and has full MS SQL power, only limits database size to 2 GB (or more nowadays). On the contrary, Oracle XE allows you to have only one database instance and it cannot be larger than 1 GB.

Given a free choice, I always use SQL Server.

I had intended to get into MySql as well before Oracle acquired it :(
