A jagged array is an array whose elements are arrays. The elements of a jagged array can be of different dimensions and sizes. A jagged array is sometimes called an "array of arrays." In jagged array data comes in various shapes. Sometimes the shape is uneven. With jagged arrays, we can store efficiently many rows of varying lengths. They are multidimensional arrays, arrays of arrays. int[][] jagged = new int[3][5]; In the above code, the multidimensional array of 3 elements can hold another array of 5 elements. Which is same as having a List holding another List in it. The above code, would allow you to create an array of 3 element that holds an array in itself, which holds 5 elements of int type.
