Hi,

A CMS is an application that manages the content of a Web site.
It includes the blog engines.
Often these are php or asp.net applications running on a server.
the most famous cms are Drupal, Joomla and WordPress (php)
and Orchard, Umbraco (asp.net)
Often the content of the site is placed in a database and for management, the user needs to connect to admin web pages.
The advantage is the ease and speed of creation of pages. The drawbacks are the lack of customization, the price of certain extensions, the poor quality of the HTML code and SEO problems.
