hi, asp.net is windows platform depented, the application developed in asp.net can only deployed under windows server because this required .net framework should be installed to run and it cost for such a server, and it is not free. asp.net core is not depentend on any platform, you can deploy to linux server as well, linux server is free of cost. it is an open source free of cost. note: if you choose asp.net core, some of the feature in asp.net will not work. and asp.net core completely different from asp.net core and it is new, so you have to learn that, so choice is yours and your company. good luck.
