what is github fork option ?

i have seen when i go to any source code hosted in github and click on fork option then that project gets added to my repository list. what does it mean ?

after fork if i clone that project in my local pc and add some code there then change code will be automatically added to his project who created the project first time ?

this fork option is not there in TFS.

please let me know.

A fork is a copy of a repository. Forking a repository allows you to freely experiment with changes without affecting the original project.
In git and Mercurial, you create branches by starting with either the head/trunk or an existing branch. When you do this, your changes become part of the main project repository. If you want to work on a completely separate copy of the project, you may want to consider making a Fork.
Forking is a way for you to clone a repository at a specific point, and to modify it from there. To fork is just another way of saying clone.

suppose Mr x upload a project in github and i clone that project from my Visual studio and made some changes in that project. so when i will check in then Mr x will get the changes of mine when he will do the get latest of that project from his Visual studio ?

same things will happen in case of forking means if i fork a project and later clone that in my pc by Visual studio and made some changes there and when i will check in from Visual studio then Mr x will get those changes when he will do the get latest.
