what use of Sql server Cursor....

Hi All,

I confused about cursor.... What use of cursor in any project....

Please give some example..

I confused about cursor.

A cursor contains information on a select statement and the rows of data accessed by it. You can loop thru the each record in the cursor.

What use of cursor in any project.

AFAIK, Based on it's nature, if you want to loop thru some records and calculate something at that time you may go with cursor. Mostly, cursors are used inside a Stored Procedure. It is equivalent as loop thru the collection(such as List) using foreach loop in c#.

In realtime projects, usage of cursor should be avoided. Since it consumes memory of SQL Server.

Hi, if u know about data reader in c# I think same as cursor in SQL. In c# data reader is used get data fro database with connection oriented same here also cursor .
