Try like below:

1. Using OnChange method
<asp:DropDownListID="ddl"runat="server"AutoPostBack="true"
onchange="javascript:CalcTotalAmt();"
OnSelectedIndexChanged="ddl_SelectedIndexChanged">
asp:DropDownList>
2. Using OnChange but adding in code-behind:
<asp:DropDownListID="ddl"runat="server"AutoPostBack="true">
<asp:ListItemText="a"Value="a">asp:ListItem>
<asp:ListItemText="b"Value="b">asp:ListItem>
asp:DropDownList>
protectedvoidPage_Load(objectsender,EventArgse)
{
ddl.Attributes.Add("onchange","CalcTotalAmt();");
}
