We know in Dot Net Framework , Compiler compiles the managed Code to Intermediate Code and then to machine code. Now my Question why Compiler straighforward compiles from Manage code to Machine Code. Why It has to first convert to Intermediate Language ?

Dear Vaibhav, First of all your question should be like- Now my Question is why Compiler doesn't straighforward compile from Manage code to Machine Code. Why It has to first convert to Intermediate Language ? Machine code is depend on the spcification of computers. Like 1. Type of OS 2. Type of Computer 3. Type of RAM 4. Type of processor. Now these things varies from client computer to developer computer. Developer developing an application with the help of his own Computer. After developing application it will be used by client computer. So both computers might have different specifications. So if we want our C# code to be converted into machine code directly then we have to compile our application on the client computer. If clients are using Windows and Linux then we have to compile our code on both platforms independently which is not a good practice at all. So when we'll compile our code in developer computer, c# compiler or VB Compiler will convert our code into an IL code. So CLR will take care of converting compiled (MSIL code) code into machine code with the help of JIT compiler in all types of Systems having different configurations so no need to compile it again and again.
