Build/Release Engineer

General - This is a senior, hands-on technical role employing a mix of Web and .NET Client-Server technologies. Initial responsibilities will revolve around the Web platform, and then expand into Client/Server applications, Java deployment to WebSphere and Web Services deployment to WebSphere. Responsibilities include: -Develop and maintain build processes and build scripting. -Maintain and run deployment scripts, installation scripts and environment configuration scripts. -Administer source code control. -Install custom IT application code onto servers. -Follow strict code propagation guidelines to create a repeatable software deployment process. -Author and refine server side IT application installation instructions. -Assist production support team in application installation. -Configure server to comply with security/privacy/accessibility policies. -Communicate status of builds. -Attend team meetings and otherwise collaborate with team on build planning and execution. -Identify all affected systems and processes before the change is implemented in order to mitigate or eliminate any adverse effects. -Monitor the change process from development/procurement through implementation. -Ensure entire process is properly documented per CDW compliance standards. -Develop and maintain test data extraction processes. -Establish written procedures for all processes. Qualifications -4+ years of related job experience in software build, release or configuration. -Experience on the .NET 1.0 or 2.0 frameworks. -Knowledge of Microsoft scripting technologies such as ANT, NANT and MSBuild is preferred. Also applicable are Perl, Python, Jython, ASP and VB script. -Hands-on experience in an enterprise-wide, distributed, multi-server environment. -Experience configuring and deploying Microsoft web applications, batch jobs, and Windows applications in a production IT environment. -Experience administering Visual SourceSafe, Rational Clearcase or other source code control systems. Knowledge of Microsoft Team Foundation Server is a major plus. -Experience with Build software a plus. -Experience with object-oriented design and programming techniques a plus. -Experience with creating applications using any of the following technologies: C#, .NET, JAVA, VB, C++, COM, Web Services, XML, SQL Server, ASPX is a plus. -Ability to work effectively with development and project team members. -Strong written and verbal communication skills. -Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
