Are you an experienced DB2 Database Administrator looking for an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge database technologies? We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented professional to join our team and take ownership of database administration for DB2 on Mainframe z/OS. This role involves managing performance, troubleshooting issues, optimizing queries, and ensuring seamless database connectivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Database Administration. Manage and maintain DB2 for Mainframe z/OS, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
- Performance Monitoring & Tuning. Continuously monitor DB2 performance using IBM tools and TOAD for DB2 LUW, identifying potential bottlenecks and implementing optimization strategies.
- Database Connectivity. Oversee DB2 direct data drivers and remote system connectivity, ensuring smooth integration across platforms.
- Federated Database Management. Administer and optimize DB2 Federated Database on AIX, ensuring seamless access to distributed data sources.
- SQL Optimization. Conduct SQL tuning to improve query performance and enhance database efficiency.
- Feature Implementation. Stay updated with the latest DB2 on z/OS functionalities and introduce new enhancements for improved database management.
- Application Support. Work closely with development teams to support application changes, troubleshoot issues, and resolve database-related problems.
Data Management & Design
- Execute production data updates while maintaining data integrity.
- Define and modify table structures, optimizing data storage and retrieval.
- Design and develop Triggers and Stored Procedures for automation and efficiency.
DB2 Tool Configuration & Customization
- Configure and customize DB2 Admin Tool, Query Monitor, and QMF for streamlined database operations.
Business Recovery & Compliance
- Ensure database reliability by implementing business recovery plans.
- Provide support for SMARTIS (or other related tools).
- Conduct DB2 Bufferpool tuning to optimize memory usage.
- Manage zParms to enhance database performance.
- Refresh Acceptance environments with Production Data as needed.
- Participate in PCI Interviews, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory standards.
On-Call Support & Security Compliance
- Participate in an on-call support rotation, ensuring 24/7 availability for critical issues.
- Adhere to all relevant security policies and procedures, maintaining a secure database environment.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Technology.
Technical Expertise
- 5-7 years of hands-on experience in DB2 database administration.
- Advanced knowledge of DB2 for z/OS and DB2 LUW (Linux, UNIX, Windows).
- Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) for complex queries and optimization.
- Strong understanding of database architecture, security, and best practices.
- Experience with DB2 LUW for AIX is a plus.
