In this pivotal role, you will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Architect for our global Linux and UNIX infrastructure. You’ll be the driving force behind designing, integrating, and managing highly available, scalable, and secure systems across on-premises data centers, hybrid environments, and public cloud platforms like AWS and Azure.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Architecture & Design
- Develop high-level and low-level designs for complex infrastructure solutions involving Linux (RHEL/SUSE), AIX, Solaris, and clustering technologies.
- Architect hybrid solutions integrating compute, storage, networking, backup, and middleware for on-prem and cloud environments (Azure, AWS).
- Lead initiatives to standardize infrastructure technologies in compliance with global IT architecture and security frameworks.
- Design resilient architectures for Disaster Recovery (DR) and Active-Active data centers using clustering, load balancing, and virtualization.
Virtualization & Compute Expertise
- Act as an SME in VMware, KVM, Solaris Zones, LPAR/VPAR, Docker, Kubernetes, and hyper-converged infrastructure platforms.
- Oversee platform migrations and consolidations including P2V (physical-to-virtual) and cross-platform VM migrations.
Automation & Monitoring
- Build and maintain automation pipelines using Ansible, GIT, REST API, and native OS scripting for provisioning, patching, and configuration management.
- Define and implement monitoring KPIs using Splunk, Zabbix, HPE OneView, and native tools for proactive incident management.
Integration & Optimization
- Collaborate closely with teams managing Satellite, Dell, NetApp, Pure Storage, Networker backup, Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, and middleware components.
- Recommend and drive technology upgrades and refresh cycles to reduce technical debt and improve overall system performance, stability, and security.
Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Support IT managers and business stakeholders in planning infrastructure roadmaps, identifying risks, and making architecture decisions aligned with growth projections.
- Conduct regular audits and health checks of infrastructure to ensure compliance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
- Lead incident management and root cause analysis for critical infrastructure events.
- Mentor and guide support teams on infrastructure best practices, architectural frameworks, and tool adoption.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline.
- 15+ years of experience in IT infrastructure architecture, system design, and Linux/UNIX-based environments.
Technical Competencies
- Deep hands-on knowledge of Linux, AIX, Solaris operating systems, clustering tools, virtualization technologies, and server hardware (e.g., HPE Synergy, C7000).
- Strong understanding of networking, backup, security principles, and storage platforms.
- Proficiency in automation and monitoring tools (Ansible, Splunk, Zabbix, GIT, REST APIs).
Preferred
-
Industry-recognized certifications in Linux (RHCE), VMware (VCP), Cloud (AWS/Azure Architect), and ITIL are highly desirable.
Leadership & Interpersonal Skills
- Strategic thinker with excellent decision-making skills and a strong grasp of enterprise architecture principles.
- Effective communicator with the ability to convey complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experienced in leading cross-functional teams, managing vendor relationships, and navigating high-pressure environments.
- Proactive problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset.
