Job Description

As an Operations Engineer, you will support the operations and manage the delivery for production systems and services based on operational requirements and service agreements. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of our production environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform administration tasks including system installs, PTF deployment, HMC maintenance, and security configurations.
  • Manage OS AS400 administration, including upgrades, capacity planning, and performance monitoring.
  • Conduct daily system monitoring to ensure the integrity and availability of hardware, server resources, and key processes.
  • Review system and application logs to verify the successful completion of scheduled jobs, including backups.
  • Isolate, define, and resolve system, application, and customer-related problems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless application support and high availability.
  • Provide monthly reporting on system performance and assist with capacity planning requirements.
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing and maintain third-party software applications.
  • Engage in basic CL programming and assist with custom development tasks as needed.
  • Utilize tools such as MIMIX, Connect CDC, and Attunity for replication.

Required Skills and Experience

  1. Minimum Experience: 6 to 8 years in AS/400 system operations or administration.
  2. Expertise in IBM AS/400 Administration, including OS, VIOS, capacity, performance, and audit & security.
  3. Basic knowledge of CL programming and experience with configuring Power hardware using HMC.

Additional Experience

  • Experience with BRMS for data saving and restoring across systems.
  • Familiarity with iDoctor, CCSS, SQL (DBMON/Plan cache), and Performance Navigator (Fortra) is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to be on-call with the possibility of evening and weekend work.

Educational Qualifications

  • Education. 15 years of full-time education in a relevant field.
