Packet Core Engineer

As a Packet Core Engineer at Ericsson, you will be responsible for managing and executing proactive and reactive maintenance activities for the Packet Core network. This role requires a higher level of support compared to 2nd Level Operations, ensuring continuous service availability and performance according to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

What You Will Do

1. Support & Management. Provide support in change management for Packet Core Operations, including GSM, GPRS, WCDMA, and LTE technologies. Manage nodes like vEPC (Evolved Packet Core), including MME/EPG on a Virtual Platform.
2. Operational Improvement. Offer input and suggestions to enhance operational aspects related to Packet Core Services and network infrastructure. Focus on quality improvement for end-to-end services.
3. System Configuration. Assess the need for system reconfigurations, make recommendations, and execute changes as required.
4. Collaboration. Work closely with other service areas (IP and Backbone) for continuous maintenance and monitoring of Packet Core Infrastructure.

You Will Bring

1. Technical Knowledge. Expertise in CORE nodes such as SGSN, MME, GGSN, and DNS. Strong understanding of GSM protocols (SS7, ISUP, SIGTRAN, MAP, SCCP, Diameter) and call flows for GSM/GPRS/WCDMA/IN.
2. Operational Skills. Knowledge of Telecom Operations Practices and Packet Core Nodes, with experience in multi-vendor environments (Cisco, Huawei, Ericsson, Nokia, ZTE) preferred.
3. Problem Solving. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to deliver results and meet customer expectations.
4. Communication. Excellent presentation and communication skills.

Key Qualifications

1. Educational Background. B.E / B.Tech in Electronics & Communications.
2. Experience. Experience in handling Ericsson Networks and multi-vendor exposure (Cisco, Huawei) is advantageous. Technical skills in the performance and characteristics of SGSN/GGSN Network Nodes are required.
