We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join our dynamic team. This role requires a deep expertise in Linux systems and Ansible Automation. As a Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of both systems hardware and software, along with related infrastructure. You will also engage in technical research and development to drive innovation within the infrastructure, ensuring adherence to standards for maximum productivity.
Responsibilities
- System Management. Oversee server hardware, operating systems, storage solutions (SAN & NAS), and supporting systems. Ensure their effective functioning and perform regular maintenance.
- Troubleshooting. Address and resolve internal and external application issues, hardware problems, and operating system issues. Work with storage systems (SAN/NAS) and new services as required.
- Policy Development. Assist in the creation and implementation of policies, procedures, and standards related to server and storage management.
- Automation and Monitoring. Implement and maintain automation, centralized logging, and monitoring systems to enhance operational efficiency.
- Capacity Planning. Perform capacity planning for hardware and operating systems, provide recommendations for application and database expansions, and implement solutions for improved performance.
- Standards and Documentation. Contribute to discussions and documentation regarding Linux standards, operating systems, hardware, storage, networking, and security.
- Project Collaboration. Work with database and application teams to gather requirements for new projects and expansions, ensuring alignment with existing applications.
- AWS Management. Deploy and manage AWS services including EC2, IAM, S3, CloudFront, Storage Gateway, and SSM.
- Leadership. Provide functional or program leadership, representing the team in multi-functional projects.
- On-Call Support. Be available for on-call support as needed (24/365).
Education & Experience
- Degree. B.Sc. in Computer Science, Information Systems, IT, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience. Minimum of 5 years in systems administration with a strong background in Linux, virtualization technologies (preferably VMware), Tier 1/2 storage arrays, and SAN.
Skills
- Expertise in Linux installation, configuration, optimization/tuning, hardening, monitoring, and automation (RHEL/Ubuntu).
- Familiarity with HPE Blades/Synergy, HPE Nimble and NetApp storage arrays, and Brocade SAN equipment.
- Scripting proficiency in Python and/or Shell.
- Knowledge of ancillary services/tools like LDAP, mail relay (postfix, sendmail), and remote console services.
- Experience with Apache administration and TCP/IP protocol suite.
- Familiarity with Systems Management tools such as RedHat Satellite and middleware (JBOSS, WebLogic, Tomcat).
Highly Desirable
- Experience in configuring, administering, and tuning server and storage systems supporting Business applications and Oracle databases.
- Operational experience with HPE Nimble arrays and AWS Cloud services, including AWS SSM for Systems management.
- Proven ability to automate system administration tasks using Ansible.
