Job Description

Microsoft is seeking a talented Senior Silicon Engineer to join the Data Processing Unit (DPU) team within the Azure Hardware Systems & Infrastructure group. This role will involve working on front-end silicon design, delivering cutting-edge, high-performance, low-power, scalable, and programmable DPU silicon solutions. As a Senior Silicon Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and developing sophisticated silicon solutions that have a global impact.

Responsibilities

  1. RTL Micro-Architecture and Design. Lead the RTL design and micro-architecture for high-performance, low-power DPU silicon solutions.
  2. Collaborate with Software Teams. Work closely with the software team to co-develop programmable silicon implementations.
  3. Solve Complex Problems. Address complex engineering challenges in datacenter environments, leveraging your expertise to deliver innovative solutions.
  4. Engage in Diverse Domains. Gain experience across various domains within the DPU team, utilizing your skills to address complex engineering problems and advance your career.
  5. High-Impact Contributions. Contribute to high-visibility projects, making a significant impact on Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure and hardware systems.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background. BS and/or MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience. 8+ years of RTL design and/or architecture experience.

Technical Skills

  • Expertise in DMA engines, compression, hardware offloading, and programmable logic. Experience in designing Accelerator engines is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ARM/RISC-V processors is advantageous.
  • Proven track record in defining and developing complex SoCs.
  • In-depth understanding of processors, peripheral interconnect bus protocols, and architectures.
  • Proficiency in high-performance design techniques, low-latency, and high-bandwidth designs.
  • Strong knowledge of Verilog, System Verilog, synthesis, and static timing analysis.
  • Personal Attributes: Self-motivated, effective both independently and in a team setting.
