About Us
The Device Software and Services organization at Amazon builds foundational capabilities used by Amazon Devices, including Kindle, Fire Tablets, Echo, Fire TV, and more. The Device Management Externalization Services team is at the forefront of this effort, developing multi-tenant, highly available, and scalable services and SDKs. These technologies empower consumer electronics manufacturers to leverage Amazon's core device management services, enabling them to innovate and launch their cutting-edge consumer electronics products.
Role and Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Development Engineer (Sr. SDE), you will play a pivotal role in setting the technical direction for the team. Your responsibilities include:
Technical Leadership. Provide leadership in building highly performant, scalable, and extensible software applications and services.
Architectural Guidance. Establish architectural principles, contribute to the selection of design patterns, and mentor team members in their application.
Roadmap Development. Participate in the creation of the engineering roadmap for the team, collaborating closely with product management.
Collaboration. Work closely with other leaders to cultivate an engineering culture focused on excellence, both in engineering and operations.
Mentorship. Mentor junior team members to accelerate their professional growth and development.
Best Practices. Collaborate across engineering teams to learn, share, and apply best practices, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- Proficiency in at least one software programming language.
- 5+ years of experience in leading design or architecture, with a focus on design patterns, reliability, and scaling of new and existing systems.
- Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices throughout the full software development life cycle.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Experience in a mentorship role, as a tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
