The Small Business Server team is looking for a strong SDE to join the team and take a key role in the development of Microsoft's Small Business Server product features. SBS provides a complete, single-box solution for small businesses as their ‘first server’ that is easy to setup/configure, easy to maintain, and provides a ton of end user value right out of the box, such as e-mail, web surfing, intranet site, and more! With the release of Windows Small Business Server 2003, the product has received outstanding product reviews and PR (including winning the 2003 Comdex best of show). The opportunity in the future is even bigger as we improve the overall user experience for the “Do-It-Yourselfer (DIY).” We are looking for an experienced developer to join in the product development of the next generation Small Business Server. The position focuses on web services and client/server networking. Challenges will implementing a new web service on both the client and server side, configuration of secure networking topologies, and peer-to-peer migration into a domain topology while keeping the product targeted for a DIY customer. The SBS team is the first team in Microsoft to rollout an Extreme Programming model. Here we have a developer and a tester pairing such that both engineers write product code and test automation, thus providing true front loaded quality. This is a great opportunity to be part of a team that is at the forefront of this initiative and to experience a new world where product code and test code are written in a parallel fashion. We are looking for a top notch developer to help us build a great product for this growing market segment. The ideal candidate for this position should have great communication and problem solving skills, excellent coding & debugging skills, a proven track record of delivering solid and secure solutions, strong customer empathy, and a passion for learning new technologies. This candidate must also have 4+ years of overall development experience in C/C++/C# and demonstrated experience shipping multiple 12+ month major releases of a product.
