About the Job

Amazon Tax Platform Services is seeking highly skilled Software Development Engineers to contribute to the core services responsible for calculating taxes (sales tax and VAT) for all Amazon sales, both physical and digital, globally.

Responsibilities

• Complex Problem Solving. Thrive on solving complex problems and enjoy operating complex and mission-critical systems under extreme loads.
• Development Lifecycle. Contribute to all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle, including design, development, documentation, testing, and operations.
• Business Impact. Work closely with the team to help drive business decisions and contribute to the design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance of innovative software solutions.
• Quality Assurance. Use software engineering best practices to ensure a high standard of quality for all team deliverables, and write high-quality distributed system software.
• Agile Development. Work in an agile, startup-like development environment, focusing on the most important tasks to drive services optimization, cost-effectiveness, and security.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
