The Platforms and Ecosystems product area encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications). We build innovative and compelling software products—from apps to TVs, from laptops to phones that impact people’s lives worldwide.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
- 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, JavaScript, C++, or similar).
- 1 year of experience with data structures or algorithms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in performance tuning and/or power optimization.
- Experience with Android or other Mobile platforms.
- Experience with Android framework development.
- Experience with building full-stack Android applications, ranging from building user interfaces to low-level Android libraries.
- Experience with Platform/SoC bring up.
Responsibilities
- Work on full-stack development of Wear OS, an Android-based licensed platform.
- Improve battery life of the Wear OS Platform and devices through optimizations in the Framework, Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL), and Board Support Package (BSP) layers.
- Enhance the OS's architecture for power and performance by developing tools, tests, and utilities to investigate power and performance issues.
- Enable Google-provided services while optimizing for battery life and performance.
- Improve quality, functionality, and security of the device by fixing bugs found during development, user trials, or field use.
- Collaborate with SoC and hardware development partners on utilizing their capabilities/generating requirements for next-gen SoC.
