What You’ll Do
- Design and Develop at Scale. Create robust, scalable, and secure software systems that power digital payments for 40% of the global population.
- Collaborate Across Teams. Work cross-functionally with product managers, QA engineers, DevOps specialists, and other developers to deliver high-quality software solutions aligned with Visa’s technical and business goals.
- Contribute to the Future of Commerce. Use cutting-edge tools and modern architectures to build the next generation of payment platforms, including Real-Time Payments, Transaction Processing Systems, and "Buy Now, Pay Later" solutions.
- Enhance Product Quality. Actively participate in code reviews, automated testing, performance tuning, and continuous integration/delivery efforts to elevate overall software quality.
- Drive Innovation. Explore and implement new technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, React, Angular) that keep Visa on the forefront of the digital finance industry.
- Mentor and Learn. Engage in team-wide knowledge sharing, mentorship, and continuous improvement practices to contribute to Visa’s culture of excellence and learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply strong understanding of computer science fundamentals such as data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
- Write clean, testable, and maintainable code using Java, C++, C#, or other object-oriented languages.
- Develop RESTful APIs and integrate web services using technologies like HTTP, JSON, Spring, and XML.
- Debug and troubleshoot issues effectively using a variety of debugging tools and techniques.
- Collaborate on design documents and technical proposals for new services or features.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities, tight deadlines, and parallel development efforts.
About You — Skills & Experience
Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant software development experience in lieu of a degree
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree OR 2+ years with an advanced degree (Master’s, MBA, etc.)
- Strong foundation in object-oriented programming and design patterns
- Experience with backend technologies including Java, Spring Framework, and REST APIs
- Familiarity with front-end development frameworks like Angular or React (a plus)
- Proficiency working with Application Servers and monitoring/instrumentation tools
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and analytical skills for root-cause analysis
- Knowledge of software development life cycle practices including CI/CD, Git, Jenkins, etc.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, global, and collaborative team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in payments technology, fintech, or banking systems is highly desirable
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus
