Job Description

Join Microsoft's Azure Storage team as a Service Engineer and become a vital contributor to the reliability and performance of Azure's storage infrastructure. In this role, you'll be pivotal in ensuring the quality of service for our customers, who rely on Azure to power their businesses in a Cloud First world. Your primary focus will be on component-level hardware and firmware performance testing for Azure Storage's extensive server fleet. Responsibilities

  • Execute robust operational workflows to deliver high-quality engineering support services for Azure Storage.
  • Collaborate within the Azure Storage organization to develop sustainable service solutions that cater to diverse hardware qualifications.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects, ensuring timely completion at the highest quality standards.
  • Conduct hardware tests, validate performance, and identify bugs to maintain service reliability.
  • Share best practices and insights with fellow engineers to drive continuous improvements.
  • Stay abreast of hardware technology advancements and their implications on capabilities.
  • Implement high-performance solutions across teams while adhering to quality standards.
  • Monitor telemetry data and conduct basic analyses to identify and address failures promptly.
  • Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) to guide other engineers in resolving system issues effectively.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with at least 2 years of coding experience in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Technical expertise in software, network, or systems engineering.
  • Fundamental understanding of storage hardware, networking, and system administration.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 2+ years of technical engineering experience with proficiency in coding and scripting languages.
  • Hands-on experience with server hardware and configuration, including HDD, SSD, and advanced ASIC.
  • Proficiency in coding PowerShell, querying databases, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines, groups, and teams.
  • Passion for enhancing security and business continuity solutions.

Additional Information

  • This position requires passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
