As a Senior Counsel at Visa, you will play a vital role in supporting Visa's Bengaluru Technology Centre. You will address a wide array of legal matters including employment and labor law compliance, sourcing, corporate and SEZ issues, technology, compliance, privacy, and intellectual property. The Bengaluru Technology Centre is pivotal in providing technology development and support services for Visa's global operations. Reporting to the Vice President of Legal (India & South Asia), you will be an integral part of the senior leadership team, collaborating closely with business units and support functions to drive positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the Bengaluru Technology Centre leadership team, offering guidance on complex legal and business issues.
- Collaborate with various functional teams to review and advise on regulatory, employment, and commercial matters, ensuring exceptional risk-based judgment.
- Draft, negotiate, and finalize complex commercial, technology, and partnership agreements to achieve business objectives.
- Represent the AP Legal team, fostering cooperation with global and regional Visa legal teams.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Counsel for Asia Pacific.
Qualifications
- 12 to 15 years of post-qualification legal experience with qualification to practice law in India.
- Solid corporate or commercial law background, preferably in a top-tier law firm or multinational company, with hands-on experience in Indian legal matters.
- Strong academic credentials, coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proven ability to work independently, interface with executive stakeholders, and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Practical problem-solving skills, business acumen, and resilience under pressure.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex cross-border technology transactions and understanding legal issues across multiple jurisdictions.
- Genuine interest in technology and the payments industry, with attention to detail and strong emotional intelligence.
Work Arrangement
This is a hybrid position, allowing for a combination of remote and office work. Employees are expected to be in the office 2-3 set days per week, based on business needs.
