Google is making a big change to how meeting messages work in Google Meet. Starting November 10, 2025, all in-meeting messages in Google Meet will now be powered by and accessible through Google Chat.
This update brings a more unified communication experience across Google Workspace — allowing meeting participants to access chats, shared files, and links even after a meeting ends, directly inside Google Chat.

What’s Changing
Previously, messages sent during Google Meet calls disappeared once the meeting ended. With this update, all Meet messages will automatically sync to a shared Google Chat conversation, making post-meeting collaboration smoother than ever.
Key updates include:
Unified Messaging: All Meet in-meeting messages will now live inside Google Chat.
Rich Interaction: Participants can react with emojis, share images, and attach files directly during the call.
Persistent Access: All shared messages, links, and files remain accessible to meeting attendees after the meeting ends.
Pre-Meeting Collaboration: Meeting hosts and attendees can share pre-reads, resources, or documents in Chat before the call — and they’ll appear in Meet during the meeting.
Why It Matters
This integration bridges Meet and Chat, giving teams a consistent communication thread before, during, and after a meeting. Google says the update will improve post-meeting follow-up and team productivity, helping users easily find messages and files in one place.
Rollout Timeline
Rapid Release domains: Rollout begins November 10, 2025, with visibility taking up to 30 days.
Scheduled Release domains: Gradual rollout starts December 3, 2025, with up to 15 days for full availability.
