In a major leap forward for creative AI, Google has expanded access to its state-of-the-art video generation model Veo 3. Originally launched in May, the powerful video model is now available to Google AI Pro subscribers in over 150 countries. Accompanying this expansion is an exciting new feature: photo-to-video generation, now live on Gemini.

Turn Photos Into Lifelike Videos with Gemini
With this latest update, users can upload a photo, describe the desired animation and audio, and watch as their image transforms into an eight-second dynamic video clip—complete with sound. Whether it’s animating a hand-drawn sketch, breathing life into a family portrait, or adding movement to scenic landscapes, Gemini’s photo-to-video feature is designed to unleash user creativity like never before.
To access the feature, simply select ‘Videos’ from the prompt box at gemini.google.com, upload your image, and enter your video description and sound preferences. Once generated, videos can be downloaded or shared instantly.
These same capabilities are also available through Flow, Google’s dedicated AI filmmaking tool.
Over 40 Million Veo 3 Videos Generated
Since its launch, Veo 3 has powered a wave of creativity with over 40 million videos generated across the Gemini app and Flow in just seven weeks. Users have explored everything from fairy tales reimagined by modern influencers to mesmerizing ASMR clips like cutting into lava—all thanks to the expressive potential of Veo 3.
Built with Safety and Trust in Mind
Google emphasized its ongoing commitment to responsible AI development. All generated videos come with both a visible AI watermark and an invisible SynthID digital watermark. The company also engages in extensive red teaming, proactive system testing, and strict policy enforcement to prevent misuse.
Users are encouraged to provide feedback on their generated videos via thumbs-up/down options to help improve the experience and reinforce safety protocols.
Availability
The photo-to-video capability is currently rolling out to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in select regions. Developers, designers, and creators are invited to explore the new tools at gemini.google.com and discover how AI is reshaping storytelling.
