YouTube’s “Hype” Feature Goes Global

YouTube’s fan-powered Hype feature, designed to amplify emerging creators, is going global as of August 26, 2025—now available in 39 countries, including the US, UK, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, and India.

How it works: Viewers can “hype” up to three videos per week from creators with fewer than 500,000 subscribers. Each hype earns the video points, feeding into a new ranked leaderboard in the Explore menu. Smaller creators receive a subscriber-based bonus multiplier—so the fewer the subscribers, the faster they climb the leaderboard.

New enhancements now live:

  • For fans: A dedicated hype button sits right under videos; hyped videos get a visible badge across YouTube; you can filter your Home feed by a “hyped” category; notifications alert you when a video is close to breaking into the leaderboard; and the most active supporters can earn a monthly hype star badge.

  • For creators: YouTube Studio mobile now displays exact hype counts and points per video, along with a new hype analytics card and weekly hype recap in data stories.

Coming soon: Topic-specific leaderboards (like gaming or style) and easy sharing options when you hype a video, helping widen its exposure.

In short, YouTube’s Hype is now a global tool. Fans can power discovery; creators can see and engage with hype-driven momentum; and everyone wins.
