Deploying The Windows Server 2016 Virtual Machine Using Microsoft Azure

Introduction

In this article, I am going to show how to create and deploy the Windows server 2016 as a virtual machine in Microsoft Azure Portal.

Prerequisites

An Azure Subscription

What is Virtual Machine?

In computing, a virtual machine is an emulation of a computer system. Virtual machines are based on computer architectures and provide functionality of a physical computer. Their implementations may involve specialized hardware, software, or a combination. Azure Virtual Machine (VM) is one of several types of on-demand , scalable computing resources that Azure offers. It can be also created through the Azure portal. This method provides a browser-based user interface for creating and configuring virtual machines

Follow These Steps to Create the Virtual Machine

Sign-in into Azure Portal

In the Dashboard , Choose the "+" and click the "Compute" and the select the "Windows server 2016 Datacenter"

After choosing the virtual machine , you'll see it contains the four steps before the virtual machine is deployed. The first step is to enter the information for the virtual machine and to remember the "username" and "password" that you entered here because it may be used to login into our virtual machine and then press "ok" to proceed for the next step.

Choose a size for the Virtual Machine and for more sizes, select "View all" or change the "Supported disk type" to filter and I chose the "standard" one; then press "select" to confirm the selection.

On the settings blade, select "Yes" under "Use managed disks", keep the defaults for the rest of the settings, and press "OK". For your convinience you may use the virtual network for our VM.

On the summary blade, it shows the details that we may give in the above steps and then click "Ok" to start the virtual machine deployment.

After deployment has succeeded, the VM summary blade automatically opens.

Follow These Steps to connect to the Virtal Machine

We want to create a remote desktop connection for our VM. In the summary blade, click the "Connect" button on the virtual machine properties. A Remote Desktop Protocol file (.rdp file) is created and downloaded

Then save (.rdp file) into our system.

For connecting our VM, open the downloaded RDP file and then select "connect".

Then enter the user name and password that we were given when creating the virtual machine, then click "Ok".

And then you may receive a certificate warning during the sign-in process. Click "Yes" to proceed with the connection.

Then it opens the virtual machine in our system.

Then it shows the System Properties , that we entered in the Azure portal. For further use, you can use the Windows server using the Azure portal.

Summary

I hope that you understood how to create the Windows server 2016 virtual machine using Azure Portal.
