Leadership Challenge 010 - 10 Ways To Have A Better Conversation (Celeste Headlee)

Is anything more important than being able to communicate? This is a great video around having a great conversation. We live in a very diverse world and while we may have many different views, having an engaging conversation is a lost art in the age of smart phones, posting and texting.

Hello my friends and hope your 2019 is off to a great start!!!

Is anything more important than being able to communicate? This is a great video around having a great conversation. We live in a very diverse world and while we may have many different views, having an engaging conversation is a lost art in the age of smart phones, posting and texting. Here is the list:

  • Don’t multi-task
  • Don’t pontificate
  • Use open-ended questions
  • Go with the flow
  • If you don’t know, say you don’t know
  • Don’t equate your experience with theirs.
  • Try not to repeat yourself.
  • Stay out of the weeds.
  • Be brief.

I love number #3 and would like to add something: allow the other person to fill in all the blanks, don’t offer suggestions as to what the answers could be. Just simply listen.
