Actually, In Mongo DB every documents (means rows as per concept of SQL Server) have maximum 16MB Size. If your document size exceed 16 MB size then mongo prefer to save those that in GridFS Format. Where MongoDB basically split your original data in multiple chunks with size 255 kb and stored. For GridFS mongo require two collections - one stored the distributed chunk information and one stored the relationship information of this chunks.
