Career Advice for switching and how to prepare for it?

Hi everybody,

I am having overall 2.6 yrs of experience in .Net.I am working for a MNC, but want to switch ASAP. I have worked on WPF and WCF for arnd 8 months. Then worked on ASP.Net for around 11 months and recently i was working on a ASP MVC, HTML, CSS, Javascript and Jquery project.C# being the programming language and Database language SQL throughout.

As you can see above i have worked on many technologies, but not on a single in depth. Can you please guide me on:
1. Which technologies should i focus on while preparing for tech interviews?
2. How should i prepare for my tech interviews ?
3.Is it necessary to have hands on skills for whichever technology i prepare?
4. Kindly provide me some reference articles, Q n A for the same.

Both Windows (WPF) and Web (ASP.NET, HTML, MVC) are good. It depends on what you like more? ASP.NET MVC is in good demand. Focus on that with WCF.

I like ASP.NETMVC more, so will be focussing on that with WCF. Can you also please guide me on how can i gain hands on experience in these technologies?

Its crucial to understand the technologies used by the company interviewing you. once the interview is set up, proceed to research them to the point of understanding what technology they use. if you are not familiar with it (i.e its not mainstream such as .net for instance) then this is an opportunity to learn. if it is something you are familiar, then try to find out how they use it and what they are struggling with. this is not easy as companies don't put this in the public domain but if you are able to understand this, it will give you the edge.

I agree with Mahesh. ASP.net MVC is better option.
